Morocco, Ouarzazate

Finally, SiMo dropped us at the train station in Ouarzazate and we went looking for our hotel. We walked a good 20 minutes before we arrived at the entrance of the Medina, the beautiful old part of Ouarzazate inside red color walls and surrounded by a souk.

The first night we spent in Ouarzazate was at the Auberge de la Rose Noire at the end of the Medina. Khadija, the host, was very nice and offered us some tea upon our arrival. However, our first night was not comfortable at all and we decided to switch riads. We moved to Dar Kamar, a cosy house renovated and owned by a young Spanish couple. The hotel only had 8-10 rooms I believe and on the roof it had a cute little restaurant and a hammam facility (which I tried on our second day of course!)

While in Ouarzazate make sure you visit the Souk and the Medina...apart from that nothing much in the city itself aside big hotels and resorts. On our first day there we took a day trip to Zagora at the desert doors. The second day we went to the beautiful Vallee des Roses and visited the land of the Berbers (see related blogs).
